Accommodation at The Winchester is of a very high standard. All our rooms are en suite and have flat screen tv with freeview, well stocked hospitality trays, hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. We are centrally heated throughout and have a Drying room for all your wet gear.

Breakfasts are as important as the accommodation and we use only the best locally sourced products available and free range eggs from our local farm. To give you the best possible start to the day help yourself to our cold buffet to start this consist of a wide range of fresh fruits, cereals and fruit juices and then we serve a Full Cumbrian or Vegetarian breakfast or make up your own choice from our menu.On our most recent inspection by Visit Britain the inspector rated our breakfast 5 star (excellent).We can cater for certain dietary needs - please mention when booking.

The Northern Lakes boast some of the best walks in Britain. You can walk straight from the door and head for Skiddaw or Blencathra or alternatively you can stroll down to Derwentwater, our nearest lake, and take the launch to one of the many jetties towards Borrowdale - from there you have a variety of options, gentle or difficult.
